Sometimes fighting with boring black dots on the face and trying deeply to cleanse the skin pores reminiscent of Sisyphean labor – we try our best, but there is almost no effect. But we can easily make a black mask at home and remove dark spots.
And, of course, every new product that promises a quick and effective solution to this problem becomes very popular at the moment.
So it happened with the sensational Black Mask – a mask-film for the face in a frighteningly black color, which “rips out” the dirt even from the deepest pores.
Tubes with a magic mask quickly appeared on the shelves of many girls, and if there is demand, then there is supply.
And today this position is in the range of a number of cosmetic companies.
But it turns out that making a black mask with activated carbon can be at home. The resulting composition is no less effective, but there are mere pennies.
What is a black mask film?
The three basic recipes for the black mask at home are coal (with activated carbon), mud, and black cosmetic clay.
They look similar in appearance, but their texture is different and the “coupling” with the skin is also different.
Clay and mud masks are also very good: they dry inflammations, clean pores, tighten the face and saturate the skin with minerals.
But if you need a black mask-film, then we are talking about a mask of coal.
A black charcoal mask from acne is a mixture that forms a dense film when it dries on the skin, “clutching” with the upper, keratinized particles of sebaceous plugs and skin.
Remove it with one layer, without moisture.
I must say, this process can be very painful, especially if the mask gets into areas where there are hairs.
To tear off the mask from the hair is almost impossible so that together with the dirt from the pores, the mask will help to get rid of the hairs above the upper lip.
If you have sensitive skin, it is better to apply the mask pointwise – only on those areas where the pores are very wide and the skin is not too thin.
Having bought a black mask for the first time, I joyfully applied it all over my face – just like in advertising photographs.
Do not repeat my mistake if you do not want, like me, to wash away the remains of the mask with tears from the cheeks, edges of the eyebrows and temples with tears.
Now I put the mask only on the nose, center of the forehead and chin.
A home mask, even a coal one, as it seems to me, does not stick as firmly as a purchased one.
But this is enough to feel the effect and see how glued sebum plugs remained in the film.
For the first time, a whole “hedgehog” of mud and sebum remained on my mask. The sight is disgusting, I’ll tell you honestly. And this despite the fact that my skin is far from in a state of neglect!
Despite the strange and even funny appearance of a black face mask at home, reviews of it confirm that it actually works.
Of course, this is not a panacea for all problems, and the pores from the first try will not become completely invisible.
But with regular use, the mask actually cleanses the skin.
Plus, you get the effect, peeling, so that, in addition to clean pores, you also get an updated, refreshed face.
How does a black mask work?
The action of the black mask with coal is mechanical – it dries, it sticks together in sebaceous plugs, which close and stretch the pores (these are the same black dots visible to us).
When you remove the mask, mud plugs from the pores come off along with it.
As a result, you have a dry black film in your hands, and on it are the former contents of your pores.
If you have ever used a patch to clean pores, you know what it is about. The mask acts the same way.
Mud and clay black masks work as adsorbents.
They absorb dirt and sebum and at the same time saturate the epidermis with minerals.
In addition, in the washing process, you very gently scrub the skin. The result is cleaned updated, soft and fresh skin.
But do not forget that after the procedures with clays and mud, it is necessary to apply a tonic and cream according to the type of skin.
How to make a black mask at home?
To make a black mask at home, dilute the dry powder of black cosmetic clay with water, milk or a decoction of herbs to the consistency of thick sour cream.
Mud black masks are usually sold ready-made – in the form of black paste (and yes, this is dirt, so do not wait for paradise aromas, unless the manufacturer is generous with a powerful flavor.
But as for me, it’s better to have 100% natural masks, albeit with an unpleasant odor). If you have dirt in the form of a dry powder, dilute it in the same way as clay.
To make a black mask film, you need to mix activated carbon powder with an adhesive base.
Usually, it is gelatin, but homemade extreme cosmetologists share with us recipes for masks based on PVA and rubber glue.
You have the right to try, but first think about whether your skin needs a close acquaintance with these, to put it mildly, not useful substances?
So gelatin is the most harmless version of the base. I use it exactly.
In order for the gelatin mask to dry, and not turn into a jelly layer on the skin, it must be applied in thin layers in several stages, waiting between applications until it dries a little.
So that the contents of the pores are better captured by the mask and easier to remove, it is better to steam the skin before applying the mask.
Cleaning mask films cannot be used on damaged skin – burns, inflammations, scratches, bursting vessels, rosacea, otherwise the skin condition will only worsen.
Homemade activated carbon black face mask recipes
The basic recipe for a black mask at home includes three components: gelatin, soaked in a small amount of milk and powdered activated carbon (ordinary pharmaceutical coal in tablets).
As additives to this recipe, you can use:
- Cosmetic clay (one type or a combination of several)
- Rice powder
- Potato juice
- Strawberry pulp
- Flour (wheat, rye, oat)
- Wheat germ oil (apricot kernel, peach, flaxseed – any oil that is used to nourish the skin), it is especially good to add oil if you have dry skin since the mask is then easier to remove
- Powdered dry herbs (chamomile, lavender, and calendula are the leaders in popularity)
- Aloe, Kalanchoe or Agave Juice
- Crushed tablets of acetylsalicylic acid (aspirin)
- Ready-made store masks for skin cleansing (add a little bit)
- Face cream (with it the mask will be easier to remove, as with oil)
- Freshly squeezed citrus juice
- Citric acid
- Tomato juice
- Sea salt
- Soda (a variant of a combined scrub mask is suitable only for owners of oily and insensitive skin)
- Cinnamon (tones, improves blood circulation, heals the skin)
- Turmeric (destroys microbes, heals, tones)
Remember that for the mask you will need gelatin without additives – flavors or dyes.
To prepare the mask, soak the gelatin in a small amount of milk (not cold, but not very hot).
Leave for 15 minutes to swell and then microwave in the microwave for 5-10 seconds so that the gelatin melts.
Mix the resulting sticky mass with the dry components of the mask (coal powder and additives, if you decide to use them).
Apply to the skin from the center of the face to the edges.
Move gradually, when applying, “climb” onto already plastered areas – this will create a continuous coating that will be removed in one piece.
Do not apply the mask on the eyebrows, the area under the eyes and on the temples – it is unrealistically painful to rip it off, and the eyebrows can even remain on the film that was removed, and not on your face.
After the first thin layer of the mask dries, apply the next. You can repeat 2-3 times – until a fairly dense layer is formed.
When the mask completely dries out (this will happen in 30-40 minutes, it will cease to be sticky when you touch it with your fingers), gently pry off its edge and remove it with one layer from bottom to top.
The remaining small pieces are best not to peel off with your nails (there is a risk of injuring your skin, which is so tormented), but carefully rinse off with a damp cotton pad.
After the procedure, be sure to apply a tonic that narrows the pores and moisturize your face with a cream-like skin.
If the prospect of appearing at home with a black film on your face does not suit you or if you are simply afraid of an unusual black color, you can clean the pores masks-films of more calm and familiar colors.
They are made exactly according to the same principle: combine an adhesive base and additives with absorbent, antiseptic or healing properties.
Fruit Acid Cleansing Mask
Mix 2 tablespoons of sour fruit juice without sugar with a tablespoon of gelatin and warm to dissolve the gelatin.
A mask cooled to body temperature is applied to problem areas of the facial skin in thin layers, each time pausing so that the gelatin has time to dry out a little.
We are waiting for the mask to completely dry and remove it with one layer from the bottom up.
The remnants of the gelatinous film are washed off with water, we apply a tonic and cream on the skin like skin.
Milk oatmeal mask film
Mix 1 tablespoon of gelatin with a teaspoon of oatmeal and pour 2 tablespoons of warm milk.
The mixture is heated, stirring constantly, so that the gelatin is completely dissolved and a uniform sticky mass forms.
Apply to the skin in thin layers, wait for complete drying and carefully remove with one layer from the chin to the forehead (do not try to tear off the mask sharply – it will hurt).
Clay mask on gelatin
Mix 1 teaspoon of kaolin with a tablespoon of gelatin and pour 2 tablespoons of warm milk.
Heat, stirring all the time until the mass becomes homogeneous. Cool to body temperature and apply on face.
When the mask is completely dry, remove it, starting from the chin.
Rinse off the mask with warm water; apply a tonic and cream that tightens the pores on the skin like a skin.
Gelatin-free egg mask
Beat egg whites can be used as an alternative to gelatin.
To do this, separate the yolk from the protein and beat one protein with a whisk until foamy.
Add a pinch of citric acid and beat until its crystals dissolve.
Then apply on the skin (do not apply around the eyes and eyebrows!), And stick pieces of a napkin or paper towel on top.
Press the paper firmly against the skin – no voids should form under it.
On top of the paper layer, spread all over with protein foam again. Wait until the mask has completely dried and carefully remove it.
If the mask has stuck too much and you cannot tear it off – sprinkle the paper with water, soaking it, it will easily come off.
Do not forget to tone and good moisturize the skin after the procedure.
On the Internet, you can find many more video recipes for a black face mask at home, but the basic principles of its preparation always remain unchanged.
Remember that such masks act quite aggressively; so on the day of the procedure (before and after the mask) to the skin carefully.
Avoid traumatic effects, active sun; do not make scrubs or other types of deep cleanings.
Allow the skin to rest at least a day after the mask-film, you can also immediately make another mask – soothing with mint or lavender or nourishing with the addition of vegetable oils that are suitable for your skin type.
You will achieve a steady pore cleansing effect somewhere in 3-4 sessions. But remember that it is impossible to make such a mask more than twice a week, otherwise the skin will thin out, spider veins will appear and even inflammation may begin.
If you do not exceed the recommended frequency, the mask-film will allow you not only to get rid of the hated black dots but also give the skin softness, freshness, and radiance.
